Let’s get you people into the test procedure- IELTS Test Procedure

IELTS examination is classified into two types as:

IELTS Academic Training. Academic training is for people who are applying for higher education or professional registration in an English speaking environment.

IELTS General Training. This test is for people who are going to English speaking countries for secondary education, work experience, or training programs and it is also a requirement for migration countries like Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. The test generally focuses on basic survival skills in social and workplace contexts.

The listening test is a 30 minutes test comprised of 4 sections. The audio will be played on a cassette tape to increase the difficulty. The test will be played only once and might probably consist of either dialogue or a monologue. The questions must be answered while listening.

The reading test lasts for about 60 minutes and each student might be given an Academic Reading test or a General reading test which has 3 sections respectively and these questions will be placed in order of increasing difficulty.

The writing test lasts for 60 minutes and the students can choose an academic or general training module. It’s compulsory for students to attend two writing tasks with two different writing styles and most importantly there’s no choice in question topics.

The speaking test is a one-to-one interview with a trained examiner. This interview has 3 separate parts and is recorded. It will have an introduction, interview, and an individual long turn in which the candidate will have to talk on a particular topic for 2 to 3 minutes. A two-way discussion will also be conducted which is thematically linked to the individual long turn. This lasts for up to 11-14 minutes.
